Stay in, or head out
Villa Mandarinas sits on the water at Mismaloya, on Puerto Vallarta’s south shore, looking toward the rocks of Los Arcos. You can spend a whole week without leaving the property. When you do want to go out, the beach, the boats to the southern coves and the old town are all close by, and the concierge can arrange the trip.

The bay
Los Arcos, whales and manta rays
The granite islands of Los Arcos rise from the bay just off Mismaloya. The area has been protected since 1975 and is now a national marine park, with reefs, caves and tunnels, tropical fish and, if you’re lucky, turtles and manta rays. Snorkelers stay within the marked areas, and fishing and touching the wildlife are not allowed.
From about December to March, humpback whales come to Banderas Bay to breed and calve, and guests have watched them swim past from the terraces.
